What inspired you to start Esencias Australia?
The journey of Esencias started 6 years ago with a crystal bowl and some wax but what inspired me to create the brand as it is today was realising that we all just need a little help to reconnect at times. We all have the power and ability to be connected but often are holding back because of the external pressures of life. I wanted to create a brand that provided people with the tools to reconnect with themselves by creating a safe space to do so. The ability to reconnect can be without limits.
Does the name “Esencias” have a special meaning behind it?
The word Esencias in Spanish means essence. I loved the word because it encapsulates the essence of self and the senses. I also love the mystery in the name Esencias, I feel it draws you in without any expectation of what you might get.
Where does the inspiration for your products come from?
Most of the inspiration comes from my own struggles and experiences that I have faced over the years and the tools I’ve learnt along my journey to help myself feel grounded and connected. I’m also inspired by the untapped power of an individual and how connection with self can enhance that power into greatness.
You mentioned on Instagram that Esencias has been a hobby for 6 years, but you’ve only just launched it as a business. What was holding you back and what helped you to overcome those challenges?
Fear, lack of confidence and cloudy vision! I have done a lot of work on myself over the past few years which has helped me gain a clearer understanding of what my purpose is. Once I started to get out of my own way my vision for Esencias started to become clearer and the fear surrounding taking that goat step into transforming it into a business quietened.
What has been the most challenging aspect of running your own business so far?
Having the confidence to believe I’m worthy to be doing it. Having a vision and creating something is easy believing you can do it is a challenge.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of running your own business so far?
Seeing people light up when they see the products for the first time and the feedback from the people who have tried the products. It’s quite humbling when someone says how using the products have made them feel or helped them through a tough time. I created these products to give back to people, award them the gift of space that they deserve and when that comes to life it’s just amazing.
What advice would you give anyone looking to go out on their own and launch a business?
Be strong in what you are wanting to give to the world through your business, breath it and live it because when you are so in love with what you are doing that comes through effortlessly when you are sharing it with people. AND partner with people who elevate you, being skilled at everything is not practical, surrounding yourself with people who can do what you can’t is what creates true success.
Who inspires you in life and/or is in your corner when things get tough? Both in your personal and professional life.
Oh god this is a tough one cause I can’t think of just ONE person right now.. I’m inspired by people who have had suffering in their lives but have chosen to rise above and create greatness out of it rather than staying in the struggle.
I have a great network of people around me that listen without judgement and offer unbiased constructive advice when needed. These are the people i’ve chosen to turn to and are always in my corner through the tough moments as I am for them.
Where do you hope Esencias will be in 5 years’ time?
I hope Esencias evolves into a lifestyle movement where we no longer feel guilty for putting ourselves first and truly understand that in doing so we can be better for others. I see a range of holistic healing and meditations that compliment all natural product ranges.
